The settlement is situated among the hills of Bakony. We can meet its name as far back as the 14th century, when the village was mentioned as -Zentkyral-. Nowadays about 1000 inhabitants live here. The village belonged to the royal property in the early Middle Ages. In the 18th century most of the residents were Calvinist, the Calvinist church and school were built at that time.
The present settlement was united from two parts /Német - and Magyarszentkirály/ in 1926. The fresh air, the calmness and the forests make it an ideal place for tourism.
