Hídvég Guesthouse is situated in the heart of Kis-Balaton, surrounded by a National Park under enhanced protection. The National Park has a wonderful water fauna with some 120 migratory and 100 nesting bird species, as well as otters, deer, wild boars, and a buffalo reserve. The Guesthouse has a 350 m3 aquarium, which has direct connection with the River Zala and its fauna. As a result, the animals living in the river visit the aquarium regularly. In this area, there are several historical sites, a castle, ruins, wine cellars and fishing, hunting, cycling and bathing destinations, as well as a fishing camp called "Matula" for 10-14 year old children.
The mountainous and hilly landscape is highly varied, having a marshland in the middle, over which visitors can take a pleasure flight. Sármellék’s international airport with regular flights from Germany and London is at a 6 kilometres distance.
